installation from the CD was not tested, but this is no big issue as the installation process works just fine with the downloadable installers, which (I think) are the same internally.

The Macromedia Studio 8 cd-rom was written with rockridge extensions containing bad permissions that do not let users access the files. To install from the cd-rom, you have to manually mount with e.g. sudo mount /dev/cdrom /media/cdrom -o norock
