HowTo / Notes

Upgrading Wine

Upgrading Wine deletes necessary registry entries. This can be avoided by running wineboot after the upgrade, and before running SlingPlayer.

You can also disable this by running

echo disabled > ~/.wine/.update-timestamp

HOWTO

Tested in Ubuntu 16.04 under Wine 3.0-rc3:

  1. Install winetricks.
  2. Run WINEARCH=win32 winetricks -q quartz
  3. Install SlingPlayer as normal.
  4. Run echo disabled > ~/.wine/.update-timestamp
  5. Run SlingPlayer.

You should now have a working SlingPlayer!

Assertion failure on old Nvidia cards

If you experience an assertion failure while the SlingPlayer is loading, issue the following command and try again:

winetricks orm=backbuffer
