Installation. Game doesn't play on this machine (it has troubles with onboard Intel Video card and DirectX 9.0c. See below).Â
What does not
The game doesn't play. DirectX issues with onboard GPU. Unable to pass the minimum system requirements (although the computer does meet the system requirements, there's issues with onboard Intel GPU and DX).Â
What was not tested
Unable to run a complete test because the game doesn't load. Installation runs smoothly.
The game will not run on computers sporting the Intel 945 Graphics chipset (i.e. Sony Vaio, Dell Inspirion). This graphics chipset is not a true DirectX 9.0c capable graphics card. Intel claims that the 945GM is fully capable of running DX9 games and several online sources back that up; however, the Vid Memory isn't dedicated, which leads to performance issues. The main issue is that the Intel 945GM is an onboard videochip that shares its memory with laptop ram and is very weak (it only shares up to 244mb max). This onboard videochip isn't capable of running recent games (DX9 and later). As such, the game fails to load due to failing system requirements test on launch. I'm sure the game runs fine for other people/systems, as it had great results from others.

This is a how-to I posted over on shyguy's world on installing RCT3 when you have an nvidia optimus enabled graphics card.

MP3 background music works fine.
Convert all music in /Atari/RollerCoaster Tycoon 3/Music/ to mp3 using ffmpeg. Then replace .wma with .mp3 in MusicGenre.txt
I will post a more in depth how to tomorrow when i have time.
however i did do a quick test with summerair.wma which is the default music and it seemed to work.
Please note that improving Mac Compatibility for RCT3 is taking a back burner as this game has now been released as a native Mac application as seen here:
