Installation procedure: --------- Set up a WINE environment: 1. WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=path_to_wineprefix winecfg 2. set "Windows Version" to "Windows XP" --------- Install Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 - Platinum! (I used GOG-Version 2.1.0.16) --------- Install the K-Lite Codec Pack Basic (I used Version 13.1.0): 0. Ignore the warnings at the beginning 1. Installation Mode: Advanced 2. Installation Preferences: - Preferred video player: something else - Preferred audio player: something else 3. Select Components 3.1 change to "Deselect all" 3.2 change to "Custom Selection" Enable the following filters: - DirectShow video decoding filters: VC-1 LAV Windows Media Video LAV - DirecShow audio decoding filters: Windows Media Audio LAV MP1, MP2, MP3 LAV Other audio formats: LAV - DirectShow source filters: MPEG-TS LAV MPEG-PS LAV Windows Media LAV 4. Additional Tasks and Options Disable the following checkboxes: (otherwise the Game will freeze when the icons appear) - System tray icons: Show LAV Splitter icons Show LAV decoder icons 5. This is a how-to I posted over on shyguy's world on installing RCT3 when you have an nvidia optimus enabled graphics card.

MP3 background music works fine.
Convert all music in /Atari/RollerCoaster Tycoon 3/Music/ to mp3 using ffmpeg. Then replace .wma with .mp3 in MusicGenre.txt
Enjoy :)
I will post a more in depth how to tomorrow when i have time.
however i did do a quick test with summerair.wma which is the default music and it seemed to work.
Please note that improving Mac Compatibility for RCT3 is taking a back burner as this game has now been released as a native Mac application as seen here:
