What works
As in earlier tests posted in this DB. That is, I copied the ECCO directory of a Windows installation, and pasted it in the .wine directory in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. I then copied & pasted the .dll files from C:\Windows and C:\Windows\System32
I ran ecco32.exe from the terminal with the command wine ecco32.exe and it seems to be working swimmingly.
eccoext.exe did not work at first using this method. I tried again, in exactly the same way, with no changes, and a couple of attempts later it actually did work.
What does not
I previously tried the Ecco 32 bit installer, but it didn't go anywhere (it froze/got stuck at its 1st stage). Since I already had a working version set up in Windows, I copied that instead, as described above.
Workarounds
What was not tested
I seem to have got ecco32.exe and also (the even better) eccoext.exe working. I haven't found any problems (other than the mysterious crashes at my 1st attempts), but I haven't used the program much in Ubuntu yet.
