Additional Comments

Used native dbghelp.dll. Graphics card is a nvidia 7600GT with AMD64 driver rev. 169.12 (available at Kernel is vanilla (available at The game is patched to version 1.02. Additionally, the Anno1701.exe file of the no-cd patch for version 1.01 is used. Since wine does not support animated mouse cursors, the game is not usable. Even when reaching ingame with the "inivisible mouse cursor", the cursor does not become visible. However, the mouse is the primary input device of the game. Thus, the rating is garbage since it can not be used (cmp. Rating definition Garbage: "An application gets this rating if it cannot be used for the purpose it was designed for..."). In order to get the mouse cursor visible, wine from the wine-hacks repository can be used. The wine-hacks version does already support animated cursors (see Nevertheless, the game crashes many times during game play and thus it is not really usable.

HowTo / Notes

Get Anno 1701 working with wine

You need a nocd crack. The 1.02 wont work so use the 1.01 one.

Next, use winecfg to make a dll override for the Anno1701.exe. Set dbghelp to native, when the warning comes up just click ok.

Open regedit, visit
and set

OffscreenRenderingMode to fbo

UseGLSL to enabled

If you start from a fresh wine install, you probably have to create these strings first.

Ingame just deactivate Bloom, as it makes the screen turn black. If you have Sound Problems, set the sound to mono.
