Vector NTI

What works

Pretty much everything i have tried. Primer design, opening and saving molecules, all the tools, etc.

Best way to install:

1. Create .wine directory if necessary using wineprefixcreate command.
2. Place mfc42.dll (just search google) into .wine/drive_c/windows/system32. This is not strictly necessary, but without it install will not create a few things like Web ordering in the tools menu.
3. Run the Vector NTI installer (wine "Vector NTI Advance 10.exe") and follow all instructions provided until told install is complete.
4. Run wineboot command to simulate a Windows reboot and create all the Invitrogen items in the "wine" menu. You may have to log out and back in to actually see these changes in your menu.
   
5. Run winecfg, and select "Windows 98" mode. This takes care of some glitches (esp. visualizing circular molecules) that occur when running in Win2000 mode.
6. If you want to associate, e.g., ".gb" files with Vector NTI, you need to make a simple shell script, just create a file called winestart somewhere (e.g., ~/bin), make it executable (chmod +x winestart), and put the following text into it, and associate this file with the necessary file type (for example, in GNOME you can right click on a .gb file, click Open With..., select Custom, select the path to the winestart file; you can right click and go to Properties to select Vector NTI to be the default):

What was not tested

Vector NTI is a huge set of programs, so I could not have possibly tested everything. However everything I tested worked.
