What works

Main features: Download, Upload, Hashing.

BBS works.

HINT: you need to startup Winny with that line: "LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8 wine "c:\winny\winny.exe"" (or similar), if you using UTF-8 in filesystem, 'cause in you don't set LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8, than Winny cannot hash files in UP folder, 'cause don't know how they named. If you are using not UTF-8, than try LANG=ja_JP or maybe LANG=ja_JP.EUC

What does not

Hints and menus (main menu and popups) don't rendering (buttons and labels are rendered properly).

What was not tested

port0 functionality.

not tested how Winny works under NAT.

not tested how Winny works NOT in the UTF-8 encoding.

HowTo / Notes

Start up Winny

To start up Winny you need to exec:

"LANG=ja_JP wine "%winnydir%\winny.exe"" (where %winnydir% is a place where you store Winny)

Without LANG=ja_JP Winny don't work properly.

If your system is currently using "ja_JP" locale, than you don't need to do it. Try "locale" in console and you will see you locale.

If you are using unicode filesystem, than you need to set up LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8. If you don't set up it, than Winny can't hash you files, if they using names in UTF-8 charset.

WINSOCK errors

In main log you can see many WINSOCK errors. It's not critical and just ignore it. May be it will be fixed in future version of wine.

Files, which you download will not be broken, because Winny checks (hash-check) every piece of file.

Wine >=0.9.30
WARNING! Winny correctly works only with wine 0.9.30 or above.
