What works
After installing Internet Explorer (or ies4linux), installing Windows Media Player 9 and MSXML (as described at http://www.slingcommunity.com/article/17253/How-To-Run-SlingPlayer-on-Linux-OS/;jsessionid=324E40FB369C4B568C4E481365603671?page=3) everything works: Installation, running the application, watching the videos, doing the exams and using the simulator. !!! Note: to use the simulator you should set Wine to switch of "Let the window manager administrate the windows" in winecfg.

I also runned it under newer versions of Wine. You should take some steps to get it installed and running.
