What does not

Crashes at start if you don't turn on Windows 98 emulation
Crashes if dsound library in wine is not installed

Workarounds

Use windows 98 in Wine settings
Install dsound in the libraries (Wine settings -> Libraries -> (Add new override for library section) -> click "Add" and find "dsound"
My version of the game is just a zip file. I used Play on Linux to create a new wine virtual drive nad just moved the extracted game files to ~/PlayOnLinux's virtual drives/Win/drive_c/Program Files/ . After that you can even create a desktop shortcut
It is also possible to just move it to ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/ virtual drive, but launching is not as conenient.

Additional Comments

Running in emulated desktop will crash the came if you move the cursor out of the window.
