## Some observations
# The game seems to limit the frame rate itself to 50 fps.
# If the intro video doesn't play properly, press Esc. The game will continue without any issues.
# It is possible to Alt-TAB out and in the game. If the game freezes after doing that, press Esc. The game will continue without any issues.
# To skip the intro video, rename the file 'intro.bik' in the installation dir to 'intro.bik.backup'.
# Save games are stored in the folder 'Save' in the installation dir.
# After some testing, I conclude that Wine's built-in ddraw library offers the best performance. Using this library is the default behavior. However, if multiple games are installed in the same prefix, it is a good idea to force the use of the built-in library. To do this, proceed as follows:
# Open the wine config.
env WINEPREFIX=/path/to/prefix winecfg
# On the applications tab, add the 'Patrizier 2.exe' and select the .exe.
# Set the windows version to windows 10.
# On the libraries tab, add the lib 'ddraw' and set it to 'Builtin'
# Someone on a german forum created a working widescreen patch for 'Patrizier 2 Gold' that can be found here:
http://www.patrizierforum.net/index.php?thread/4116-neue-p2-aufl%C3%B6sung-leichtgemacht/
# Set the in-game resolution to 1280x1024.
# Download the p2_reschanger.zip and extract it with an archiver.
# Copy the folder p2_reschanger into the game's installation dir.
# Execute the patcher.
cd /path/to/prefix/drive_c/path/to/installation/dir/p2_reschanger' && env WINEPREFIX=/path/to/prefix wine start 'C:\path\to\installation\dir\p2_reschanger\start.exe'
# Select the 'Patrizier 2.exe' in the game's installation dir.
# Change the resolution of 'Res3' at the bottom to the desired resolution.
# I recommend choosing 1280x720 for a 16:9 screen as the fonts become too small at higher resolutions.
# A new .exe will be created by clicking on 'Go'.
# Close the patcher.
# Rename the old 'Patrizier 2.exe' to 'Patrizier 2.exe.backup'
# Rename the new .exe to 'Patrizier 2.exe'
# Repeat the steps above to switch to a different resolution.
# The patcher described above only works with the German version of 'Patrizier 2 Gold'. It does not work with the English equivalent 'Patrician 3'. Luckily someone else created a patcher for GOG's 'Patrician 3' that does the same thing. You can find it here:
