What works

Update 04-15/2011: Still works same as before. Only real issues is hanging after DotNet download and scrolling reports not refreshing properly.

Updated 07-24-2010: Everything still works fine for every wine version up to and including version 1.2. Still hangs on DotNet download, but killing and restarting TM gets around that issue.

Everything works that I've tried so far under Wine 1.1.*, except for the program locking up after downloading the data when using the DotNet addon.  However, just kill the process and restart it. You will then get a prompt about using the files currently on the computer. Click 'Yes' and you're ready to go. You need update rights to the data for this.

What does not

2011-08-20: Icons for buttons are all black. This was fine in wine-1.3.25. Planning on doing some regression analysis.

Window loses focus after downloading data from server. Mouse and keyboard events are non-resposive, but window still refreshes.  Kill process and restart. The data was downloaded.

Sometimes popup windows get hidden behind the dialog window that created them.

Workarounds

What was not tested

new AutoMailer feature to schedule emails from within TM. In Windows this is a background process in the system tray.

Additional Comments

When using TroopMaster under VirtualBox, I would rate it as Gold. Works just as it would on a regular Windows machine. (But then that's not Wine, is it?)

moving water causes TM to seem to hang

When you first install TroopMaster, the background is of an outdoor scene with moving water. Sometimes this causes to program to peg the CPU. This background is the file 'troopmaster.gif' in the "Troopmaster Software\TM4" directory. There is another background without moving called with filename 'troopmaster.jpg'. If you are having this problem, do the following:

 1. rename troopmaster.gif to some temporary name, like troopmaster.tmp.

 2. rename troopmaster.jpg to troopmaster.gif

3. rename the temporary troopmaster.tmp to troopmaster.gif

4. Now that you've reversed the two background files, Troopmaster should start up with no moving background, and the program should be responsive. You can now change the Preferences to use still water:

File->Preferences...

Select 'Background' tab

click button "Watercolor with still water" (This is troopmaster.jpg)

5. Now name the files back as they were originally.
