What works

Installation works properly as mentioned before. Unfortunately the installation of the 2.06-update seems not to work as good since the popup states that it finished succesfully the starting screen shows version 2.05.

The game starts well while using the GildeGold_TL.exe and the menues and dialogues function well. With Win2000 and alsa soundserver the game loads succesfully if I use a resolution of 800x600 and except a little graphical error in the bulletin Die Gilde looks as well as under native WinXP.

You can visit one house/room then save and load the game and visit another one.

What does not

The update to 2.06 german version doesn't seem to work properly. This has yet to be validated

To find a working configuration which gives no b2d is a enduring pain because you have to regulate both - wine AND the Gilde-config - properly. I had some success with Win98 and Win2000 but this was also depending on wine-Audio-settings and game's resolution as said above.

Since you always save and load the game after leaving a room you can play it but that's not really funny. If you don't the game goes b2d next time you enter a room. There haven't been reported any exceptions of this fault yet.

What was not tested

Since there's rumor that once Die Gilde worked fully under a former cedega-version it would

  1. be interesting to hear if someone can affirm this rumor
  2. nice to know where might be the difference between this current wine-version and the former cedega-version.
