If you experience stuttering animation, like going one step back and two steps forward, try changing any graphics option that enables the "Apply" button and press it. You can set the option back to the original after that. If the game started a first time but not a second, try restarting the X server.

When you have performance issues.
Set your audio to lower quality en less sound events.
It seems that wine is not very good with dealing with a lot of sound events and pulse.
