What works
Installing the game (had to wait quite a while when the installer copied the file uninstall.csv)
Starting the game. I tried with the DVD in the DVD-player. It also started with a fixed-exe without the DVD.
What does not
Rendering wasn't quite what it's supposed to be:
In the main screen I saw all the buttons (they all worked) and I could see a moving sky in the background (with sun and lensflares). Every now and then some black objects pass by and there is no ground. In other words: it renders more than what is described in some previous tests, but it still isn't playable. The same is true for every mission that I started. Some objects are rendered black (like the grass), some other objects are rendered as they should be, but there is no ground. If I go to 3rd person view, I can see my weapon (black), but no person that's holding it.
As a side note: I can only start in 800x600 mode (my desktop is 1600x1200), and whenever I try to change video-settings in-game, the screen turns black and I have to kill the process.
On my rig I have no sound when "playing" ArmA, although I have OFP on the same machine and there the sound is ok.

Additional Comments
I have an ati-card (HD5770) and am using the Catalyst 10.4 drivers. No issues whatsoever when doing other 3D stuff in Ubuntu. The terminal gives tons of fixme:d3d_surface:IWineD3DSurfaceImpl_LoadLocation OxXXXXXXXX: Downloading rgb texture to reload it as srgb warnings. This error is reported for other games as well. If these can be fixed (and the textures are being rendered as they should be, the game might even be playable)
