What works
Everything. No just wishfull thinking. Installer: Complains something (actual text is cut off by message box) about this not being 2000, 2003, or XP; but continues OK. Login screen: everything as expected, except for i)sign in button's response (see below) ii) Inbox link (nada) iii) Help link (nada) iv) Forgot your password link (nada) Uninstaller: fine Settings menu and all options within the settings menu seems to work except the 'Account settings...' button, which does nothing The 'Enable Diagnostic Login' button even produces a log with the apparent problem when trying to connect. Tray icon + menu works fine (KDE tested) (was tested with 2000, 2003 and XP emulation)
What does not
Connecting, when using: i) Inbox link, ii) Help link, and iii) Account settings... button (within settings) There is no apparent response. And when clicking Sign In (without diagnostics) it yields a Connection Error in the task bar and the window (but not the tray icon) becomes unresponsive. The window closes when choosing exit from the tray menu, but wine doesn't exit. Hitting Ctrl-C 3 times (in the console) restarts the program. SIGN IN with DIAGNOSTIC LOG file. Same happens as without, except this time a file is left on the desktop (googletalk.log.bz2), and it does really exit when asked using the tray icon. inspection of the log file shows one main problem: InitializeSecurityContext error: SEC_E_UNSUPPORTED_FUNCTION as soon as SSL is started. This is retried 4 times before failing to connect officially. I tried using a native version of secur32.dll (which else?), but I either don't know how, or it doesn't work.

The ratings aren't explained in the FAQ or HOWTO, so it could actually have been garbage, if it didn't seem so close to working...
