for MS Windows. EndNote searches bibliographical databases in the Internet, creates reference databases locally, and automatically formats bibliographical references on MS Word documents according to standard notations. There are similar open source/free software applications (OpenOffice + Bibus), but they are not 100% compatible. OpenOffice looses the EndNote-formatted references when importing from MS Word DOC files. Hence the need for running MS Word and EndNote under Wine.
installation and running
What does not
registering on webnote seemed to have trouble, cancelling when the option to register came up got me into the program proper.
What was not tested
wasn't extensively tested but all regular operations seem to work without a hitch, version X2.0.2 was tested.
was tempted to give it gold but I feel platinum is warranted since the from install to run to close everything just worked, no tweaks, hacks, etc.
