What works
Apparently it works with my Garmin Edge 705. The program installs, recognised my 705 is connected through a USB lead and checks that my firmware is up to date. (It already is because I've recently checked my 705 using XP). I had already installed under Ubuntu 10.10 the garmin-forerunner-tools 0.10-2 package. In Wine configuration under the Drives tab, I highlighted E:/media/GARMIN and in Show Advanced for Type, I selected Floppy then Apply and OK.
What does not
I don't know. So far it appears to work for an Edge 705. Getting it to recognise a device connected to a USB socket under Wine is a big step forward here.
Workarounds
What was not tested
I have not tested this program with any other Garmin GPS device neither has it actually updated my firmware yet.

Additional Comments
I am ranking it as bronze because I haven't yet updated the firmware on my 705 using this program. My thanks go to an unnamed person whose posting I read on the Ubuntu Forum about using Floppy as the Type.
