Running the game using two of the three rendering modes, Software and Direct3D 7. I had to restart the game when changing from hardware rendering to software rendering. Choosing any resolution other than the one my desktop is set at put the game in a window.
What does not
OpenGL rendering crashes the game for me.
For those people that want more details, here they are. Open the directory with the 4x4.exe. For me it is located: /Users/user1/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Terminal Reality/4x4 Evolution Demo
The .wine directory was hidden for me. To see it, click on View > Show Hidden Files.
While in the directory with the 4x4.exe file, I launched the game through a console. Right-click > Actions > Open Terminal Here, or Tools > Open Console. In console, type: wine 4x4.exe
Once the game launches, I chose the OpenGL rendering. The game crashes and gives me some error messages in the console. Among other things, the console reports that the app requests more than one back buffer and to please configure the application to use double buffering(=1 back buffer) if possible.
I have not yet figured out how to get OpenGL rendering to work in this game.
Multiplayer does not appear to work. I had to close Wine and restart the game after choosing Multiplayer.
What was not tested
Extensive gameplay was not tested.
