What works

Installation works best when running setup from winefile. You wil need to choose "custom" install and omit 3D data and Directx9 (hit cancel). Desktop short cut appears (KDE). Saving to and loading game from data base works (only tested autosave.cbh).

Tool bar icons work (See "what does not work" below) with associated tooltips, and right click context menus work for each panel (clock setting, board config, change engine and settings, etc). User name information and CD-Key are retained (see "what does not work" below)

Games plays to completion with only a few occasional pauses. (need tooltips!). Coach mode works.

What does not

The menu crashes game (File..Edit..) in both game and database window. Any customizations and configurations made during that session are then lost.

Icon bar bitmaps are corrupted (need tooltips!). In KDE, need to manually configure fritz9.ico to display in desk top shortcut.

Workarounds

What was not tested

Multimedia training modules on DVD, and most databases. 3D boards and animation. Network play.

Additional Comments

NOTE: Need to copy gdiplus.dll from Windows XP pro sp2 (other may work?) into ../windows/system32 to run. Not being able to use menu is tedious for regular use.
