It asks for an DirectX update on the first run, I clicked Yes/OK and it did whatever it had to do without complaining, and the started exactly like it does in Windows (only faster).
What does not
The only difference between running it on Wine and on Windows is that it lacks some of the fancy graphics provided by DirectX

Starting The Ship, loading maps and quitting is noticeably faster than under Windows on the same computer.
