Additional Comments

Running the game as: `WINEDEBUG="-all" wine avp2.exe` is what I tried to speed up gameplay (As suggested in bugzilla) but slowdown was still bad enough that the game is just not playable. (Plus the mouse issue, which I didn't bother trying to fix as the game wasn't playable anyway). In addition, I have a sound issue where the launcher plays sound, but the game doesn't. After tinkering around a bit, it seems that if I BOTH set the avp2.exe to use FULL (not emulated) sound with ALSA AND click on the 'play' button in the launcher once and dragging it off (so it makes the sound but the button doesn't enable) then sound will work in-game. I don't know if this is related to the slowdown issue or not, but I'm more concerned about gameplay right now.

HowTo / Notes

Making mouse work better
Original Idea by Pac Shady, tested on 1.1.7
    • Set the mouse smoothness to maximum
    • Turn on virtual desktop
    • Run wine with WINEDEBUG=-all

    Additionally you can try:

    • Install dx9 (not necessary at the moment, but still you can try)
    • Set maximum possible for you screen resolution or set 640x480. Depends on perfomance.
That makes the mouse movement work in all directions quite good, but mouselook speed on X axis is different from Y axis. On wide and opened areas which really consume performance, this bug gives the biggest effect.
    Internet Multiplayer
Since Sierra shut down master-servers, you will be unable to get internet multiplayer working (connect to any internet server) without applying a community .rez-file patch. Patch is still in heavy development (available on LithFAQ), so you should not reply about failures with online gameplay.
