What works
Continuing my testing, I've compiled Wine 0.9.40 from source on Fedora 7 to see how Mind Manager Pro 6 runs compared to 0.9.39.
- all fonts and user interface are working OK
- sample maps all load up OK with all graphics displaying
- change style of map works, but it takes a long time.....
- saving maps works OK
- loading maps works OK
To get this working I've had to go through a procedure of
- download ies4linux and install all ie versions (5.01 sp2, 5.5 sp2, 6)
- wineboot
- download winetricks and install
- core fonts
- tahoma font
- vcrun2005 (Visual C++ 2005 redistributable libraries)
- wineboot
- install Mind Manager
- wineboot
- remove /windows/system32/ATL80.dll
- start Mind Manager
I got the install working OK without actually touching
- Microsoft.VC80.ATL.manifest
- Microsoft.VC80.CRT.manifest
What does not
- saving map style as default complains about a possible permission problem, haven't looked into it much further but I'm sure this could be resolved fairly easily.
- performance is still so slow as to be unusable. I've gone over my xorg.conf configuration to try to boost performance as much as possible. I've also enabled beryl (with full AIGLX effects). It makes an improvement, but it's still not enough to be usable.
- I'd say that most actions are at least 10 to 20 times slower than when running on Microsoft Windows XP. X is always running high at around 90%, MindManager.exe is usually at around 10%, Wineserver hardly uses any CPU.
Workarounds
What was not tested
- can't really test the application out to much depth as it's far too slow to be usable.
- everything appears to be working OK though

Additional Comments
I'm going to still rate this as Bronze. It might be usable for very small maps but it would be so slow it would be really frustrating. Still, this is a killer windows app and it doesn't always run all that fast on Windows, so well done to all developers on this one.
