Additional Comments

Currently ubuntu's wine packages, including their beta/ppa packages, do not include 64-bit support. I worked out a workaround script to compile a 'shared install' in order to get 64-bit engines to run. Script is here: http://www.jesseo.com/chess/64-bit-wine-ubuntu-1.3.13.sh
