Game runs if I set no audio in Wine settings and 640x480 resolution in game settings. Also it only shows entire screen if I select low settings (any higher will only show a portion of the screen).
What does not
Once I run the game, following the above conditions, a black bar appears at bottom. Finally, it crashes randomly after I start a match. Also there is a little slowdown. Considering I can run this game flawlessly on Windows at 1024x768/high quality, it's clear is a lot slower in Linux.
What was not tested
Installation (done with previous version). Multiplayer. Further game options.
Same exact behavior has been reported with Pro Evolution Soccer 5 and 6. See bugs 9121 and 9001, both look the same. Winning Eleven 8 is the american version of Pro Evolution Soccer 4. Same goes with WE9/PES5 and PES2007/PES6. They all run with the same "engine" and have the same trouble in Wine. I STRONGLY believe that once one of these games runs well, the others will do it at the same time. Test system: Athlon X2 4400+, 2 Gb RAM, GeForce 6800 GS.
