Additional Comments
Two things are necessary to get the game to play right. First the keyboard controls (Kate moves bit forward and stops): This is fixed by running "xset -r" which turns off the keyboard repeat. Do this by executing "xset -r" from an xterm prior to running the game. The second is the cut-off dialog and cut scenes. This is fixed by setting Vsync in OpenGL. Do this (Nvidia) running "nvidia-settings" from a terminal, then clicking on "OpenGL Settings" then by checking the box next to "Sync to VBlank". On ATI, from an xterm, execute amdccle then click the "+" next to 3D and click on "More Settings". Move the "Performance" slider all the way to the right (for VSync always on.) Finally, launch the game with: wine lithtech.exe -windowtitle "No One Lives Forever" -rez NOLF.rez -rez NOLF2.rez -rez NOLFdll.rez -rez NOLFl.rez

winetricks dsound directmusicAfterwards, open up winecfg, go to the "Libraries" tab and set dsound to Builtin.
$ wine lithtech.exe -rez rezfile1.rez -rez rezfile2.rez ...This script should work with all version of NOLF:
$ wine lithtech.exe $(for f in $(ls|grep -i rez$); do echo "-rez $f"; done)
++screenwidth "1920" ++screenheight "1080" ++screendepth "32"However, this stretches the game. A better widescreen fix is available here, but you can't play online with it.
