Additional Comments

After installing wine_gecko-0.9.0.cab and configuring wine to run as Win98, Quicken mostly works. One-steup update seems to work just fine, for institutions that normally work with that function. Downloading transactions manually from some institutions doesn't work at all - large sections of the web page render as complete black. (Some institutions don't work at all with one-step update on any platform, so manual download capability is a necessity.)

HowTo / Notes

Screen redraw performance
To maximize the screen redraw performance use Windows 98. Doing so appears to speed up the rendering of Quicken screens.
Bypass Registration
To bypass registration, use the following trick from the Crossover site: "...click the Online menu and then (while holding left-Shift and left-Ctrl) click One Step Update. It will notify you that you will no longer be prompted for registration."
1.1.17

I took a shot and upgraded to the latest beta release of wine and Quicken stopped working getting the Com Err message.

Using winetricks I made sure I had the corefonts, fontfix, ActiveX plugin, Power Point Viewer 2003 and this got it working once again.

The only trouble I am having are the tabs and text in the buttons - I can't read them and/or the label is not present. I'll have to play around with the fonts installed by winetricks.
