***** I highly recommend that you use a separate wineprefix for this guide !!!!!!!!!!!!!! ***** The installer does not play with Wine at all so there are 2 ways of getting around this: a) Install within a virtual machine and then copy the "program files/halo 2" directory into your wine prefix. b) Get a version from the internet that does not use the official installer. (You're on your own on this one) Requirements: Note: These files allow the game to be played on XP! "Halo 2 XP.rar" (No links) "h2v_xliveless.zip" (No links) gfwlivesetup.exe (http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=5549) mp10setup.exe (http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=20426) Install: 1: Set the windows version to XP using winetricks 2: **** Goto the Halo 2 install directory in wineprefix (The one containing halo2.exe) **** 3: Replace MF.dll with one from "Halo 2 XP.rar Actication folder" 4: Copy MFPlat.dll from "Halo 2 XP.rar" 5: Copy dwmapi.dll from "Halo 2 XP.rar" 6: Copy xlive.dll from "h2v_xliveless.zip" 7: **** Goto the windows/system32 directory in wineprefix **** 8: Copy mf.dll from the "halo 2 XP.rar" (Note: Lower case version) 9: Install gfwlivesetup.exe (http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=5549) 10: Install mp10setup.exe (http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=20426) 11: Use winetricks to install dxfullsetup 12: Set the windows version to win7 using winetricks 13: Run halo2.exe Note: There are some graphical glitches around objects which I suspect are due to using the wrong version of directx files but singleplayer game is working. Online is obviously disabled! Sound will not work without Media Player 10 installed!
