Myth II: Soulblighter

Myth II version 1.6 is a bugfix & enhancement update, correcting some annoying errors that slipped through the testing in 1.5.1 and adding a few new features and some modernization of the engine. 1.6 plays almost identical to 1.5.1. In fact it has a 1.5.1 compatibility mode, which is used when a 1.5.1 player is in a multiplayer game.

Version 1.6 is the first release to have native OS X Universal app along with OS X native map making tools.

The most significant changes are a modernization of the windows graphics code to allow Myth to be displayed in a window along with an option to share the CPU with other tasks when used under OS X or Windows, Myth also renders the screen at the FPS doing displayed rather then the internal 30 FPS cap in previous versions.

Additional Comments

A few things. First, this game did run under previous versions of wine. But it does not run as stable as others have reported. This is because Myth II is very unstable under multiplayer, and most of the reports admit they did not test multiplayer. I have tested this game under various versions of Wine and my Slackware OS with varying degrees of success. However, this is the first time the game failed to run at all.

Keyboard issue..
by Harry on Thursday September 3rd 2009, 7:30
Installed it last night (you must set up the Wine to be win95 mode to get it to install. Otherwise, it complains of the fact that winNT requires servicepack 3 or above to function error).

Upgraded to 1.7

Ran like charm. OGL mode works fine in terms of graphics and mouse.

However, in the game, keyboard does not work at all.

Anyone had this issue?

Thanks.

Anyone here able to get this running?
by Jordan L on Wednesday September 3rd 2008, 1:05
Has anyone here had any success running this app past Wine 1.0.0?

Since 1.0.0 I have been unable to run this... currently I have Wine 1.1.3 installed. I am running with Slackware 12.1 using onboard GPU on my GeForce 6100 M-9 motherboard.

Here is my error output:

$ wine "Myth II.exe" -opengl

Forcing xorg to screen BPP 16 does not make any difference.
Strange problem
by Maquis196 on Tuesday June 26th 2007, 19:24
I agree that this game and version is Platinum, however for me, if I exit the game and then try to reload it (while using OpenGL in windowed mode not simulate desktop option in winecfg) then it doesn't load up again giving me an error of;

fixme:d3d:IWineD3DDeviceImpl_GetAvailableTextureMem (0x52f6118) : stub, simulating 64MB for now, returning 64MB left
fixme:ddraw:IDirectDrawImpl_SetCooperativeLevel (0x52df2d8)->(0x10024,00000008)

fixme:d3d:IWineD3DStateBlockImpl_Release Releasing primary stateblock
XIO: fatal IO error 14 (Bad address) on X server ":0.1"
after 517 requests (516 known processed) with 0 events remaining.

Strangely enough by running Myth\ II\ Old.exe seems to reset it, so run the old one, exit and then run the new one again and it seems to have deleted the options?

Anyone else suffer from this or is it just me?

I just tested it but I don't have this problem.Have you installed the patch with wine set to windows 98? I have found Myth II needs to be run in 98 mode. Oh and please add your Test Results to the database!
