HOWTO
To install Windows Live Messenger you need to use Winetricks to install ie6 and msxml3.
HOWTO

How to install:

The combined Windows Live Installer does not work. Therefore, to install the software, do the following:

  1. Download the Raw MSI file from here
  2. msiexec /i wlm85.msi (it won't show any window)
  3. After installing, using winetricks you have to install: flash, msxlm3, gdiplus, riched20
  4. Set Windows version to win2k
  5. Start Messenger
