When Ocean attempts to update itself, it attempts to access a
network protocol (pings) that is restricted only to superuser access. If you run
Ocean from the console, and try to update, you will get the following message:
WARNING: Trying to use ICMP (network ping) will fail unless running as root.
NOTE: Quit Ocean after you have updated, and restart the program normally.
