Installs OK and (with various tweaks) single and multiplayer, graphics hardware acceleration and sound effects.
What does not
Some missing HUD elements (not essential)
In-game music (mixed-mode CD - wine doesn't seem to pick up CD Audio)
Higher (above 1280x1024) screen resolutions or widescreen resolutions.
What was not tested
Later SP levels
After installing BZ 1.0 from CD. The last official patch 1.4 should be applied and render.cfg (in the battlezone base directory) should be modified to allow High resolution, MipMaps and TripleBuffer. ZBuffer should be commented out. In Wine Config, set bzone.exe (in battlezone base directory) to Windows 98. If full screen is required then, under graphics tab enable DirectX to stop mouse leaving window and disable window manager control and decoration of windows and disable virtual window. If Windowed screen is required then, under graphics tab disable directx to stop mouse leaving window, enable window manager control and decoration of windows and emulate a virtual window (maximum size 1280x1024 as this is the maximum resolution in BZ 1.4) Run battlezone from bzone.exe - the splash screen can be slow. If multiplayer is required then FPS will have to be capped - can be done by enabling 'Sync to Vblank' in OpenGL settings of Nvidia / ATI control panel. Also a new 'servers.dat' file (with recent servers on it) will have to be put into the battlezone base directory. A working one can be found here: http://www.battlezone1.net/downloads/
