What works
Basic gameplay works.� Rendering seems to work fine.� Joining games and downloading mods works.� Sound appears to work (it is difficult to say for sure, because I am using PulseAudio for sound and wine sound does not work well in general).

What was not tested
I played a standard game session: while I do not guarantee that I tested everything, I also cannot think of a major game feature that I did not test.� Except speech, which I had turned off, because it appears to crash the game.

The game has several crash conditions - it frequently crashes as you join a round, seemingly as the MOTD is rendered. Disabling team speech greatly reduces the crashes - shifting it from something that always happens to something that only happens every fourth or fifth game you join, which at least makes the game playable. The game works fine once you actually join into a game.

Symptom: While playing the game the FPS drops periodically
Workaround: This seems to be a scheduling issue. After launching the game use "renice" and change the priority of the process to higher. Ex:
$ps -a | grep hl.exe
4477 pts/0 00:00:03 hl.exe
$sudo renice -20 4477
