Additional Comments

The game is completely playable with a correct install. By this I mean that installing with 64-bit prefix made the game crash right after the game beginning in majority of cases or run with artifacts. I used a clean 32-bit prefix (export WINEARCH=win32 before creating the prefix) and fresh Steam install with winetrciks. After this I was able to enjoy many hours of uninterrupted gameplay without any noticeable issues.

Music garbled & crashing
by Andrew Smart on Friday April 4th 2014, 2:49
If your game crashes within a minute or two, or the music is garbled, try using winetricks to use the native quartz dll. Or rebuild wine without the assertion (music will be garbled then stop but at least the game won't crash):

Battles appeared to be way slow for me, until I disabled my desktop manager's display effects.
