The test results for this version are very old, and as such they may not represent the current state of Wine. Please consider submitting a new test report.
Selected Test Results (selected in 'Test Results' table below)
Installation works except once in a blue moon it crashes. This happens regardless whether I install from an ISO I created or the original CD.
Audio, audio/text, text, and keyboard lessons work.
Adding and removing users works.
Test results are saved if you complete the test.
Volume setting works.
Settings are saved and loaded the next time Rosetta is started and the user is chosen.
Japanese text (kanji/kana) is displayed properly.
What does not
Settings window will not close. Once you have opened Settings...regardless if you made changes or not...you have to drag the dialog out of your way to continue your lesson.
Rosetta Stone in Wine can not record from the microphone? (Have never tried the microphone in Linux before, but I know the microphone is *not* muted in Alsa.)
On every lesson, you get an error dialog that the Times New Roman font is not found and text might not display correctly. But the text used (at least in short-text lessons) seems fine. Text sometimes ran outside the picture-boxes in Windows already if the text was too long, so I can't see a difference.
Program has frequent crashes! It doesn't matter if the program is installed direct from CD or from a mounted ISO. It doesn't matter if when I install direct from CD, whether I navigate normally to the CD in Linux, or navigate to the "m:" file (symlink to mounted CD) in ".wine/dosdevices." It is not caused by trying to use the microphone or keyboard lessons. (I uninstalled Rosetta Stone, or other times just deleted the user, to make sure the user's data file didn't merely get corrupted.) When Rosetta Stone crashes, it will usually do so several times in a row. This is not particular to any specific lesson, or going through the lesson in any particular manner (audio, keyboard, etc.). I did *all* tests with Romaji before attempting to use kanji, so these crashes really are random!
Occasionally the installer will crash, whether it's run from the ISO or the CD.
What was not tested
Did not test customizing other settings, such as which icons represent correct/incorrect answers.
