  • There can be the occasional crash, so save often.
  • Loading the "Help Index" give the error "Failed to launch help." but it actually works.
  • Installer does not create a Desktop icon, you'll have to do this yourself.
  • Sound does not work.

Additional Comments

As long as you have a properly configured vanilla ALSA, the wave sounds will work. To get MIDI music working, you will need either Timidity++ or FluidSynth installed and running on your system. One of these software sequencers must be running before you start the game. This only applies if your sound card doesn't have an MIDI sequencer built in already. After you start a new game or load a game in progress, you will need to click on Options in the bar menu and check both Music and Sounds as they are not checked on by default. No matter what, the title screen MIDI music will not work, but that is just a minor issue. After running the game for 9 hours straight, it did not crash once. This is an improvement to running this game in the 1.5.x Wine versions. Everything here applies the 1.5.x versions of Wine with the exception that the game will crash periodically. I gave this game a gold rating as it does require third party software to be installed in order to get MIDI music to work for those of you that don't have MIDI support built in our sound card.
