QuickTime must be installed according to the following How To:
Using a newer version of QuickTime will end up with a successful installation but QuickTime will either crash or not function correctly. This will also lead Starry Night to crash or not function. Starry Night will only start if QuickTime itself launches and works correctly.
Starry Night installation completes successfully. Starry Night Pro Plus 6 starts successfully and the familiar window opens.
What does not
The entire document area is black, so the program is really useless. The menus appear to work but it's impossible to tell because we can't see the document.
However remember that QuickTime has problems with Wine causing the screen to become black. Starry Night uses the QuickTime libraries to render the night sky. It appears therefore that the problem is caused by the QuickTime libraries not working properly in Wine, rather than a problem in Starry Night per se.
What was not tested
With the screen all black, there is no way to test the other features.
I conclude that before Starry Night will work, problems with QuickTime's video rendering must be fixed first.
