What works

  • installer
  • patcher
  • setup utility
  • game

game require dll overide with:

winetricks d3dx9

fps are really good, no slowdown

most or even all effects looks ok; can be played with gamepad

(not sure what issues are caused by disgusting porting, unfinished patch or wine)

  • Mpeg movies (aka cut-scenes):

since mpeg videos are unplayable with our quartz.dll, real 3d cut-scenes still visible under them...

if only they had models and sounds... but if we have game's native dll we can replace ours with it manually and then via

set loading order as "native,built-in". after that game will recognize video streams but it may be necessary to install codecs via

winetricks ffdshow

What does not

  • there are some issues with gamepad:

d-pad works in setuptool but recognized as "slider" and do nothing in-game

there is no force-feedback (probably not wine fault)

setting movement on analog stick does not affect character's walking pace (PC porting fault)

HowTo / Notes

dll overide

game require d3dx9_36.dll from native environment. can be automatically installed via winetricks:

winetricks d3dx9

HOWTO avoid SLowdown
if your game says:
"fixme:d3d_surface:fb_copy_to_texture_direct Doing a pixel by pixel copy from the framebuffer to a texture, expect major performance issues".
then you will need add this to wine registry:

Graphical corruption \ hunging up

if you experience some graphical corruption or your game hangs up in particular places, try to set

to fbo, pbuffer or backbuffer in

registry branch with

more details

please, check game with all the different options, post screenshots, write test data and bug reports

HOWTO Play with Videos

while bug in quartz don't let us play games with our quartz.dll, it is possible, however, to use quartz.dll from game's,well... native environment. then:

1) set loading order of that dll to "native, buit-in" via

 2) install ffdshow via winetricks:

winetricks ffdshow

3) when game starts and trying to show first video, window may pop-up and ask if you want to use ffdshow:

  • answer "yes, always" and you will get videos with sound and no more annoying windows
  • answer "no" and, probably, there will be no sound in videos

game may hang-up unexpectedly. please, test it with ffdshow, wmp, both and without (maybe with k-lite codec pack too)
