This is an update to prior reports with a new version of wine.
Campaign works, multiplayer works, multiplayer server works (in-game and dedicated). Full OpenGL acceleration works, software mode works.
I no longer see the wierd bug in "Spear in the Dark" where a squadmate might blink in and out of existance in the first part.
No longer get a brief buzzing noise when starting the game.
What does not
The builtin dinput.dll for wine still does not work with this program. One must copy the native dll from the directx directory of the starsiege CD into the starsiege directory on the hard disk.
Joystick input does not work, although it works in other games through wine. This probably means that the native dll won't work with joystick input through wine.
OpenGL does not resize the screen properly unless the program is set to run as "Windows 95" Under the application tab of Wine Configuration.
What was not tested
IRC cannot be tested anymore because the Dynamix IRC server is down.
Have not tested the mission editor.
Did not test the install on this version of wine. Program was previously installed.
In multiplayer mode, quickchats do not work if the window manager uses the Ctrl-F1 through Ctrl-F7 keys (e.g. for switching between desktops). Disabling this in the window manager gives player access to the Quickchats. If one wants to run a server, one must make sure port 29001 is not blocked by any linux firewalls (such as firestarter) and is forwarded properly at the router (if applicable). Even closer to gold. Some youtube videos showing actual openGL gameplay may be seen at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wcOienWJ4e8 and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KcpEHb5m-U (resolution was set low to keep video size down, but wine can run Starsiege at high resolutions with fast frame rates in OpenGL)
