BioEdit

BioEdit is a mouse-driven, easy-to-use sequence alignment editor and sequence analysis program designed and written by a graduate student who knows how frustrating and time consuming it can be to rely upon word-processors and command-line programs for sequence manipulation. BioEdit is intended to supply a single program that can handle most simple sequence and alignment editing and manipulation functions that researchers are likely to do on a daily basis, as well as a few basic sequences analyses. HowTo / Notes

Note

By Francisco Pina (02-10-2010)

BioEdit works very well using wine 1.2.1.

The 1.3.x series has some bugs in it, so it is recommended to use the stable version for a hassle free use.

Also keep in mind that in some computers (I cannot find a pattern) the "alternate" BioEdit.exe available on the official website is required to be able to run BioEdit. This is not a wine bug as it also happens on computers with Windows.
