There is one great drawback that forbids me to get it to Gold state, that one is that even the program installs flawlessly when I create a new sequence or opening a new one i got weird reactions as mentioned before. Tested for all the 10.5 versions. I think it has to do with missing packages.

BioEdit works very well using wine 1.2.1.
The 1.3.x series has some bugs in it, so it is recommended to use the stable version for a hassle free use.
Also keep in mind that in some computers (I cannot find a pattern) the "alternate" BioEdit.exe available on the official website is required to be able to run BioEdit. This is not a wine bug as it also happens on computers with Windows.
