Unless I run the installer with wine using sudo, installation aborts with an "Access Denied" message. Using sudo, installation completes without problems. When the application is run, the splash screen is delayed. The main program window does not appear until after a fairly long wait during which it appears that the program has frozen.
What does not
The main program window appears to have drawing refresh problems. The menu, tool bar and other parts of the window, such as the "Image Strip", disappear when the program window is moved or resized. When moving and resizing are stopped, the menu and toolbar are partially redrawn, and an outline of the "Image Strip" is redrawn. Items on the toolbar appear when the mouse cursor hovers over them. Menu items appear when clicked. The program cannot be used for its intended purpose. When I try to load images for stitching, a message pops up: Stitcher internal error. Aborting.
What was not tested
Not much could be tested because images would not load.
This demo was on a CD that came with a magazine I bought several years ago. I thought it would be fun to try the program with wine. Anyone who wants to stitch photos should try Hugin, which gives better results than this program.
