What works
Installation, setup (see workaround), gameplay. Played through the tutorial + first level.
What does not
Post installation setup. Descent 3 freezes when I click on the video setup tab. All other tabs can be selected without freezing. Descent 3 will not launch without video setup.

Some of the users on the GOG.com community forum appear to have success running Descent 3 under wine. My system is an A64X2 with 2GB RAM, a Quadro 560 (similar to Geforce 7600GS) and Nvidia 185.18.36. To pass video setup tab: After successful install add DWORD value "PreferredRenderer" under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Outrage\Descent3 using regedit. And set it to "2".
