Used winecfg to turn off window management and decoration, as well as turn off pixel shader support while emulating a virtual desktop. Video tab in setup functions correctly in this mode, and winecfg settings can be changed back after D3 setup has detected the video properties. Audio settings in winecfg need DirectSound hardware acceleration to be set to emulation in order to have in-game sound.
