I used a nocd copy of the game files hosted on archive.org, which requires no installer. The game is launched by running
wine system/Game.exe from the extracted directory.
I was able to get the game fully running with some workarounds.
What does not
As mentioned in other reports, by default, the launcher does not display correctly (showing only the Quit button and some garbled text).
I also got a Windows error dialog when launching the game with the message "Can't find file for package 'ALAudio'".
I had to configure Wine to run with a virtual desktop at 800x600 resolution to solve the launcher bug.
I was able to solve the ALAudio library error by installing the 32-bit OpenAL library, which on Arch is lib32-openal.
The game itself can run at a max resolution of 1024x768, which I struggled with because I have a HiDPI display on my laptop. My workaround for this is to play on an external monitor set to a low resolution. A potentially better workaround might be to use a compositing window manager that supports zooming into individual windows, but I was unable to test this with my setup.
What was not tested
Have not yet played the game to completion.
