What works

Setup.exe in installation CD's "/Adobe Photoshop Elements" folder appears to successfully install PSE 5.0.

What does not

INSTALL:

Setup.exe in root of installation CD does not work:

complains about malformed [MCI] section in System.ini, then draws an empty window.
due to the empty window, unable to click on any setup options.

USAGE:

Post-installation launching of main program uses desktop launcher with following commandline:

env WINEPREFIX="/home/USER/.wine" wine "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 5.0\Photoshop Elements 5.0.exe"

Error dialog appears with:

Title: Adobe Photoshop Elements
Message: Unable to continue because of a hardware or system error. Sorry, but this error is unrecoverable.
Button: [Quit]

Running from Terminal shows various errors, such as:
