smartBridge Simple Monitor

What works

Installation was successful installation under Wine version 0.9.44, an improvement from 0.9.43 where it would crash.

What does not

simpleMonitor.exe - When attempting to run this program, the executable reports "Previous instance of simpleMonitor is running, please close it and try again."

There are no fixme errors running with WINEDEBUG=+channel1,+channel2

I did some research and noticed that Windows users who have had this error had it because they had an SNMP program running, see http://www.smartbridges.com/support/faq_ab.asp#46
I have no SNMP devices running, and confirmed with 3 fine folks at #WineHQ that they too received the same error.

I was not able to test the product beyond this point because the program is stuck at the "Previous instance of simpleMonitor is running, please close it and try again"

Please assist in fixing this product. There are no open source alternatives to the product and companies like mine use hundreds of these radios.

The software installs successfully with builtin dll's as of 0.9.44, which is new, in 0.9.43 it did not install.

To avoid the "A previous instance of simpleMonitor is running" message, you must be running as root because of the way it binds an SNMP port. WineHQ does not support running as root so this would be the first problem that would need to be addressed.

Run as Windows 2000.

There are numerous dll's which must be run in native mode to get the program working, but eventually it worked by doing WINEDEBUG=+loaddll wine simpleMonitor.exe as root and trial and error with dll's.
