What works

• client installation, default or custom
• starting client directly (making it fire up the browser to the configured webpage)
  
• automatically loading the client when logging in on the website and entering the virtual world
• multi-avey login (ie. entering more than one avatar and/or worlds at the same time, with one client window per avatar)
• all menu options and buttons
• sound (ALSA or OSS)
• performing gestures with keyboard function keys
• inserting gestures with keyboard function keys (except Shift-F8/F9/F10)
• opening an URL on objects/avatars in the Internet browser
  

What does not

• Inserting some of the gesture symbols (Shift-F8/F9/F10) into the chat text doesn't work, apparently because the window manager intercepts those keycodes. All other gestures work.
  
• Inserting symbol characters with the Alt-numpad sequence as in Windows

Additional Comments

Experience is 'Platinum' so far, as the basic client installs and runs exactly as on Windows without deviating from defaults for either the software or for Wine. But: - Installation of an alternative Internet browser (Mozilla Firefox) into the Wine instance was required to make it work. - Some of the keyboard function keys the client uses for gestures do not function, presumably because KDE intercepts them (?) - Interaction with plug-ins through DDE has not been tested yet.
