I only had to configure 2 things to make the game work flawlessly. The first and most obvious one was that the game requires the CD, but it isn't a very advanced CD check. This means you can use a burned backup of your CD or mount an ISO of the CD, or mount the CD's folder contents as a virtual drive. It doesn't matter as long as there is a virtual or real CD drive that contains the files that the game is looking for. If you'd like to run it without the CD, you may copy the contents of the CD to a desired folder. Then, simply go to the Wine configuration utility, add a new application profile for Life.exe and go to the drives tab. Click Add to add a new virtual drive in Wine, and browse to the folder where you copied the CD's contents. Then, click the Advanced button and choose CD-ROM for the drive type. Click Apply, then OK. Now, install the game from that location. The second issue is with sound (for me, at least). I had sound on the intro Hasbro video, but not in the actual game. I was able to very easily fix that by once again opening the Wine configuration utility, clicking on the profile that I created for Life.exe, and click the Audio tab. On the Audio tab, simply change Hardware Acceleration from "Full" to "Emulation" via a drop down menu. Click Apply, then OK. You're all set, enjoy the game!
