Additional Comments
Tarball compiled 0.9.34 Ragexe.exe runs properly when first installed, although slow and jerky on my slow system. After running the patch client (Ragnarok.exe), it will crash (internally) with the error outlined in bug 6537 (http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6573). The patch client modifies a file "data.grf" which is a proprietary format archive of zlib compressed data files (can be extracted with grftool). The added files are appended to the archive, and I suspect it is some problem reading this archive which results in the error; however, I'm still not certain what this problem might be. The "data.grf" created under WINE is binary identical to the one created under Windows. Ragexe.exe always creates a D3D error on exit, if it otherwise ran.

You need vcrun2008 for gameplay work. If you execute this without vcrun2008, your instalation can be corrupt (the cause is unknow).
(This does not apply to openpatcher).
Install wine gecko package (the package name varies according with your distribution). you can optionally install ie6 with winetricks instead of wine gecko package. Both work well.
Download this file and add to wine registry:
$ regedit boost.reg
(The performance gain is high.)
